“The current situation of the Catholic Social Thought” – Seminar by Samuel Gregg

On Friday August 12, from 15 to 16.30, the Department of Philosophy of Law and Constitutional Law from the Faculty of Law (Austral University) organizes a seminar for professors and researchers with Samuel Gregg, Academic Director of the Acton Institute (USA) , to discuss “The current situation of the Catholic Social Thought”.

The seminar will take place in Classroom 6, Building  Executives IAE, Austral University, Campus Universitario de Pilar.

Professor Gregg has written extensively on economic policy, economic history, ethics in finance and theory of natural law. He holds a Master degree in Political Philosophy from the University of Melbourne, and a PhD in Moral Philosophy and Economic Politics from the University of Oxford, where he worked under the supervision of Professor John Finnis, a leading restorer of contemporary Thomist thought.

He has been elected member of the Royal Historical Society, of the Royal Economic Society and the Academic Council of the Institute of Economic Affairs (London), and belongs to the editorial board of the Journal of Markets and Morality. Gregg is the author of several books, including Morality, Law and Public Policy (2000), Economic Thinking for the Theologically Minded (2001), On Ordered Liberty (2003), The Commercial Society (2007), The Modern Papacy (2009), Political Economy (2010), Becoming Europe: Economic Decline, Culture, and How America Can Avoid a European Future (2013), and Catholic Tea Party: The Catholic Case for Limited Government, a Free Economy and Human Flourishing (2013).

Admission is free, but reservation is required.
