The Institute of Philosophy at the Universidad Austral has organized a competition for 3 scholarships to participate in the Interdisciplinary Research Week on «Determinism and Indeterminism: From Neuroscience to Philosophy,» which will take place in Buenos Aires from August 10 to 13, 2015, with the sponsorship of the John Templeton Foundation.

Three scholarships of ARS 2,700 each will be awarded to assist with transportation and accommodation expenses in Buenos Aires. Interested individuals who wish to attend should submit the following documentation to the email address filosofia@austral.edu.ar by May 15, 2015:

1. Letter of intent
2. Full curriculum vitae
3. Current academic affiliation at a Latin American university
4. Names of two references

Decisions will be communicated on May 20.

Scholarships are open to doctoral students, recent doctoral graduates, and academics in the fields of neuroscience, philosophy, or theology, whose research projects are related to the theme of determinism/indeterminism or demonstrate explicit interest in interdisciplinary research in neuroscience and philosophy/theology.

The selection of candidates will be based on:

1) the relevance of the applicant’s research topics to the issues to be addressed during the Interdisciplinary Research Week, and 2) the applicant’s academic background (publications, teaching, participation in academic meetings).
