The role of curiosity in successful collaboration

Lani argues that curiosity plays a crucial role as a motivating factor in successful collaboration within interdisciplinary research. It asserts that curiosity is not only important but also essential for effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams. The author begins by providing a definition of curiosity and emphasizing its significance as a driving force behind successful collaboration. They contend that curiosity serves as an initiator, sustainer, and coordinator of successful collaborative interdisciplinary research. Furthermore, he argue that if curiosity is considered a fundamental intellectual virtue, it becomes even more vital for achieving successful collaboration. Lani then focuses on a specific type of curiosity, namely inquisitiveness, and highlights the value of its defining characteristic: the ability to ask good questions. They posit that inquisitiveness is an especially valuable form of curiosity for collaborative projects, including interdisciplinary research.
