CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THREE GRANTS OPEN TO LATIN AMERICAN ACADEMICS AND PhD CANDIDATES

Mag. Luz Marina Duque Martínez (Universidad del Valle, Colombia).
The Institute of Philosophy of Universidad Austral has opened a call for applications for three grants to attend the Interdisciplinary Research Week “Determinism and Indeterminism: From Physics to Philosophy”, to be held in Buenos Aires on August 5-9, 2013, with the support of John Templeton Foundation.
Three grants of ARS 1,500 each will be awarded to contribute with travel expenses and accommodation in Buenos Aires. Candidates should submit the following documentation before April 30 (extended to May 15) to filosofia@austral.edu.ar:
a) a letter of intention;
b) a complete curriculum vitae;
c) present academic affiliation in Latin America;
d) two references (name and email address).
The result of the selection will be communicated on May 15 (changed to May 31).
Eligible candidates are PhD students, recent PhDs and academics in the fields of physics, philosophy or theology, whose research projects are related with the issue of determinism/indeterminism or who manifest an explicit interest in interdisciplinary research in physics and philosophy/theology with an academic affiliation in a Latin American university.
The selection of candidates will be according to the following criteria: 1) relevance of the candidate’s research topic for the questions discussed at the Interdisciplinary Research Week; and 2) the candidate’s academic merits (publications, teaching, participation in academic meetings).
